Managing Maps
A terminology map associates terms from one vocabulary to another in order to enable data reuse and make it computable and purposeful. In Symedical, terminologies are contained within catalogs. Terminology terms are associated by defining the source catalog and target catalog with a map template. The mapping process utilizes algorithms to associate terms based on the industry (domain) and syntax of the terminology along with basic logic. Once processed, source to target candidate associations are returned and are mapped to make the data actionable.
Waypoint enables the remote mapping of the terminologies contained within Symedical maps. Additional tools are also provided to help in the review and maintenance of these mappings. This section provides the basic steps for performing the following tasks within Waypoint:
