Term Details

Use the Term Details window to view a list of term information, domain information, external codes, and term attributes. Additionally, view all of the maps that the selected term appears in as a source or target term and term history. The term information presented depends on how the window was accessed, as follows:

  • Double-click on a source or target term in the Source Term grid.

  • Select a term in the Source Term grid, click the Term menu, and then click either View Source Term Detail or View Target Term Detail.

Term Information — Displays basic term property information (such as original term description, unique code, catalog, EQI) and term descriptions used during parsing (such as lexical, normalized, phonetic, and tokenized descriptions). See the Term Information Items topic below for descriptions.

Domain — Displays the term transformations resulting from processing. Term processing transforms terms based on the primary and alternate characteristics defined in the domain and the Symedical metadata.

External Codes — Lists the concept identifiers for catalog terms that can be used during mapping by pointing any of the following algorithms to the external code:

  • Source code to target code

  • External code to source code

  • External code to external code

Term Attributes — Lists the term attribute values that further describe the term.

Aliases — Lists term alias values that are alternate descriptions specific to both a purpose and a language.

Term History — Click to view audit information for changes made to the selected term. See the Term History topic for field descriptions.

Mappings Tab — Displays all of the maps that the selected term appears in as a source or target term. Grids include:

  • Mappings as Source — Displays the following information on the map containing the selected term as a source term:

    • Map — Displays the name of the map containing the term.

    • Target Catalog — Displays the name of the target catalog for the map.

    • Target Term — Displays the name of the target term associated with the source term.

    • Target Code — Displays the unique identifier for the target term.

  • Mappings as Target — Displays the following information on the map containing the selected term as a target term:

    • Map — Displays the name of the map containing the term.

    • Source Catalog — Displays the name of the source catalog for the map.

    • Source Term — Displays the name of the source term associated with the target term.

    • Source Code — Displays the unique identifier for the source term.

Catalog

Displays the name of the Symedical catalog containing the term.

TermUID

Displays the unique identifier assigned to the term by Symedical.

TermOriginal

Displays the term description.

TermNormalized

Displays the term’s parsed normalized description.

TermLexical

Displays the term’s parsed lexical description.

TermPhonetic

Displays the term’s parsed phonetic description.

TermTokenized

Displays the term’s parsed tokenized description.

UniqueCode

When defined, displays the unique identifier for the term.

SourceCode

Displays the primary identifier for the term.

TermStatusID

Displays the identifier indicating the active/retired state of the term. Values include:

  • 1 — Active

  • 2 — Retired

TermTypeSeq

Displays numeric values that represent the term’s assigned type value.

Within Symedical, term types are defined for the catalog, such as an allergen catalog might contain terms that represent ingredients, brand names, and allergen groups. Once defined in the catalog, term types are then assigned to each term in the catalog.

These values can be used to determine whether two terms have the same type value. Descriptions of these values are only found in Symedical.

IncidenceCount

When defined, displays the number of times a term occurs within a user-defined set of data.

EQI

Displays a calculated value that indicates the quality of the term based on word count, abbreviation count, average token length, and the percentage of tokens without a vowel. A value of 100 indicates the best quality term, which has approximately 20 words with a token length of 10, as well as no abbreviations and words without vowels.

IsPreferred

Displays True or False indicating if the term has a preferred status.

MTCode

When defined, displays the term's unique UMLS® (Unified Medical Language System®) Metathesaurus® or RxNorm code.

CreationDate

Displays the date on which the term was created.

ModificationDate

Displays the date on which the term was last changed.

LastParseDate

Displays the date on which the term was last processed within Symedical.
