Term Comparison

Use Term Comparison to help with mapping decisions by displaying the source and target term details side-by-side for review. To access, in Map Manager, select the source term in the Source Term pane, and then right-click the target term within the Candidates pane and select View Term Comparison.

Term Information — Displays the Term Details values for the source term and target term.

  • Name — Description of the term property.

  • Match Status — Presence of indicates the source and target term values match.

  • Source Value — Displays the description of the source term being used for comparison.

  • Target Value — Displays the description of the target term being used for comparison.

Domain — Displays the domain characteristic values for the source term and target term.

  • Name — The name of the domain characteristic.

  • Match Status — Presence of indicates the source and target term values match. Presence of indicates a hypernym match between the source and target term domain characteristics.

  • Source Value — Displays the source term’s characteristic value being used for comparison.

  • Target Value — Displays the target term’s characteristic value being used for comparison.

Please Note: Domain characteristics are included in the comparison even when the domain of the map’s source and target catalogs are not the same.

Attributes — Displays the additional data elements that further describe the source term and target term.

  • Name — The name of the attribute.

  • Match Status — Presence of indicates the source and target term values match.

  • Source Value — Displays the source term’s attribute value being used for comparison.

  • Target Value — Displays the target term’s attribute value being used for comparison.

External Codes — Displays the external code values that are used to differentiate between identical terms found in both the source catalog and target catalog.

  • Name — The name of the external code.

  • Match Status — Presence of indicates the source and target term values match.

  • Source Value — Displays the source term’s value being used for comparison.

  • Target Value — Displays the target term’s value being used for comparison.

Aliases — Displays local and non-local aliases for both the source term and target term. The aliases that match on purpose/language and text display on the same line. The non-matched aliases display a blank space in either the Source Value or Target Value column.

  • Name — The name of the alias in this format: <alias type> / <language>.

  • Match Status — Presence of indicates the source and target term values match.

  • Source Value — Displays the source term’s alias value being used for comparison.

  • Target Value — Displays the target term’s alias value being used for comparison.
