Map Properties

Use the Map Properties window to define properties for a new map or to modify properties for an existing map. Use this form to:

  • Assign a map template and define an existing catalog as the source and another as the target for a new map.

  • Assign attributes (such as content security, status, mnemonic, etc.) and populate runtime settings.

Once you set initial properties or modify existing properties, click OK to apply your changes and view the map in Map Manager.

To access Map Properties from the Waypoint dashboard, click . To access Map Properties from Map Manager, click the Map menu and then click Properties.

Item

Description

1

Mapping Template (Req’d) — Select to adopt the map template properties for a newly created map. The template selected here determines the catalogs available for selection within the source (#2) and target (#3) drop-down menus.

2

Mapping From Source Catalog (Req’d) — Select the source for the newly created map. Catalogs are listed provided they are associated to the selected map template or are composite catalogs.

3

To Target Catalog (Req’d) — Select the target catalog for the newly created map. Catalogs are listed provided they are associated to the selected map template or are composite catalogs. Catalogs outside of your content security settings are not listed.

4

Map Name — Enter a custom name for the map or click to generate a default name, which is a combination of the source catalog name and the target catalog name (for example, Source Catalog - Target Catalog).

5

Additional Description — Contains additional comments that further delineate the use or intent of the map.

6

Mnemonic — Contains the map’s unique identifier for Symedical runtime.

7

Version — Displays a name or number that is used to identify a particular variation of an existing map. Versions can be created to keep record of historical maps and to archive maps you no longer need but wish to keep. To version by creating a new map, see the Versioning a Map procedure.

8

Status (Req’d) — Indicates whether the map is active, retired, or a work-in-progress.

9

Owner (Req’d) — Indicates the creator (or owner) of the map.

10

Flag Set — Click to select a flag set for users to flag terms. The set selected here only pertains to the map in focus. Leave this blank to use the Symedical default flag set.

11

Use in Runtime — Select to indicate that Symedical runtime services may be used. If you wish to allow Symedical runtime services to also modify the map, select from the following runtime mode options:

  • Add New Terms to Source Catalog — Select to allow Symedical runtime services to add terms to the source catalog.

  • Attempt to Auto-Map New Terms — Select to allow Symedical runtime services to add terms to the source catalog and attempt to map terms in the map. By default candidates are automatically generated every 60 seconds. This interval can be adjusted in the Background Windows Service configuration file maintained by your Symedical administrator.

  • Enable Quick Map Agent — Select to enable manual mapping through email. During processing, whenever multiple candidates are returned by the “map” algorithms, an email is sent to the map owner listing the returned candidates. Selecting a candidate maps those terms automatically within Symedical during runtime processing.

  • Please Note: This feature only applies to maps processed through Symedical runtime services with the Attempt to Auto-Map New Terms runtime mode option selected. It does not apply to bulk processing.

Please Note: If Use in Runtime is the only option selected, Symedical runtime services will be used but will not modify the map.

12

Log Source Term Differences — Select to allow Symedical runtime service to compare incoming source term values (description, attributes, and external codes) to the published source term values and log differences within the Anomaly Manager in Symedical.

13

Publish Target Attributes — Select to publish the target catalog’s term attributes.

Please Note: Attributes can only be defined for a catalog in Symedical.

14

Publish Target Alias — Select an alias from the map’s target catalog to use its values for target term descriptions when publishing to Symedical runtime services.

Only target aliases that do not allow multiples can be published. When determining the alias value to use, the publish looks for the following:

  • If the Preferred alias purpose is selected, the publish first looks for the local preferred value for the same language. If no value exists, the publish looks for the preferred value; then if no value exists, the term original is used.

  • For any other alias purpose, the publish first looks for that specified purpose/language value. If no value exists, the term original is used.

This option is only available for Symedical runtime-enabled maps.

15

Show Hierarchy Browse — Click to select a content model to display when viewing the map in Symedical.

16

Content Security Enabled — Select to enable the map to be viewed based on user permissions. Once enabled, set the following security levels to define the user permissions for the map.

  • Namespaces — Represents the highest security level by including organizations and sites. Select a namespace without selecting an organization or site to permit access at this level.

  • Organizations — Represents a middle security level by including sites. Select an organization without selecting a site to permit access at this level.

  • Sites — Represents the lowest security level. Select a site to permit access.

Or, copy settings already assigned to the source or target catalog by clicking these buttons:

  • Copy Source — Click to assign the source catalog’s namespace, organization, and/or site location as the content security values for the map.

  • Copy Target — Click to assign the target catalog’s namespace, organization, and/or site location as the content security values for the map.

Please Note: If content security is enabled, you must have the Map_Review_Only privilege set within Symedical to view the terms assigned to you in the map.

17

Originating Site — Click to select a map location. This value is used in Symedical runtime services to configure environments and set up runtime channels for transcoding.

18

Exclude from Repository Consults — Select this check box to prevent the map from being used by the consult repository algorithms.
